You remove your shoes and feel the unmistakable texture of the sand underneath your feet. As you approach the water, the firmness gradually changes from dry to moist. Just before stepping into the surf, you stop to admire the smallest of details at your feet. You gaze at an etching in the sand from the prior wave, and wait for the next one to erase and recreate it. As this happens, the surf washes around your feet, causing you to slowly sink into the sand.
