There's a stretch of the year the rest of the world doesn't know about…
The visitors pack up after Labor Day, the roads empty, and 30A quietly becomes its finest self: the Gulf still warm, the sand nearly to ourselves, the evenings long and gold. This is the season that drew so many of us here in the first place, and the one worth staying for.
On Thursday, September 17, from 4 to 7 PM, Wild Feather Gallery opens its doors for “Locals' Summer,” an evening for the people who call this coast home. Come as you are, on your way home or on your way out for the evening.
On the walls will be new and recent work from our local beaches and from natural Florida—the emerald water and white sand, the herons, the quiet wild of places that are harder and harder to find. Familiar water and places, seen closely and differently. The kind of artworks that ask you to slow down in front of them the way the season itself does.
Behind the work is local artist Zach Jones, who spends these quiet months out where most of us don't get to be… Before sunrise, past the last dune, waiting on the light. He thinks of himself less as a photographer than as a messenger: someone sent to witness a moment of Creation and carry it back to the people who'll treasure it. That reverence runs through everything on the walls.
Consider this an open invitation to the peace that drew us all here. Visit, stand in the light for a while, and take in the emerald water, the birds, the stillness of it all—while it's still ours.
Attendance is complimentary, but reservations are required.
